Time flies if you are having fun and when you're with usually the one you love. While the years pass, perhaps your anniversaries start to sneak up on you, with you and your family member seemingly always ending up heading out to dinner again. Or probably the big day comes and goes, and that you do not do anything at all because you're on a tight budget and can't think of something to do that is celebratory, memorable, and won't cost a fortune. (Sure, a visit to your wine country sounds perfect; but could it be worth refinancing your house and mortgage to finance this?)

Well, luckily, you may be both romantic and financially smart. Here are 5 inexpensive and exciting new ways to celebrate your anniversary.

1. Just Be Together

Take the day removed from work, turn off the mobile phone, stop checking your email, and just spend some quality time together and save money. Keep it simple and remove yourselves from your own busy everyday lives. Celebrate your daily life together because that's what your anniversary is all about.

2. Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year

If this is your fifth anniversary, give five roses. If that is your 10th anniversary, offer a 10-minute massage. Be thoughtful and fun. Produce a game from the jawhorse, and see who will show up with creative number-themed gift.

3. Give Thoughtful Gifts

For each anniversary year, you will find traditional gifts as you are able to give. For example, the gift for the initial year is traditionally paper. Consider giving your spouse stationery you have customized, a guide, a love letter, or other things associated with paper. It doesn't have to be expensive, just thoughtful. There is also a contemporary anniversary gift for every year. Like, for the fourth anniversary, the present day gift is appliances, which is actually a lot cheaper than a pricey bit of technology. If you're enthusiastic about what these gifts are, here is a handy list of traditional and modern anniversary gifts by year.

4. Watch Your Wedding Video

I don't think I've ever watched my wedding video. Honestly, I am not even sure where it is. But what's the purpose of getting a movie made if you are not going to view it? Your anniversary is a great opportunity to consider that special day, so take out that wedding DVD and watch highlights together. If there isn't one, perhaps you've a video of a secondary you took or another memorable occasion. If not, look throughout your wedding album or pictures that you have got through your years together.

5. Get Crafty

If you are feeling only a little artsy, go decorate some pottery for every single other (most towns have a DIY pottery studio or two). Or make something together, like a photo album or scrapbook of the previous year's events.
