Time flies when you're having a great time and if you are with the main one you love. Since the years pass, perhaps your anniversaries begin to sneak on you, with you and your family member seemingly always winding up heading out to dinner again. Or possibly the big day comes and goes, and you don't do some thing because you're on a limited budget and can't consider something to do that is celebratory, memorable, and won't cost a fortune. (Sure, a visit to the wine country sounds perfect; but could it be worth refinancing your home and mortgage to finance this?)
Well, luckily, you can be both romantic and financially smart. Here are 5 inexpensive and exciting new ways to celebrate your anniversary.
1. Just Be Together
Take the day faraway from work, switch off the cell phone, stop checking your email, and just spend some quality time together and save money. Keep it simple and remove yourselves from your own busy everyday lives. Celebrate your daily life together because that's what your anniversary is all about.
2. Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year
If this is your fifth anniversary, give five roses. If this is your 10th anniversary, offer a 10-minute massage. Be thoughtful and fun. Produce a game from the jawhorse, and see who is able to appear with the most creative number-themed gift.
3. Give Thoughtful Gifts
For every single anniversary year, you will find traditional gifts that you can give. For instance, the gift for the very first year is traditionally paper. Consider giving your spouse stationery you have customized, a book, a love letter, or other things associated with paper. It doesn't have to be expensive, just thoughtful. There is also a contemporary anniversary gift for each year. As an example, for the fourth anniversary, the present day gift is appliances, which might be a lot cheaper than the usual pricey little bit of technology. If you're interested in what these gifts are, this is a handy list of traditional and modern anniversary gifts by year.
4. Watch Your Wedding Video
I don't think I've ever watched my wedding video. Honestly, I'm not even sure where it is. But what's the point of experiencing a video made if you should be not going to view it? Your anniversary is a great opportunity to keep in mind that special day, so pull out that wedding DVD and watch highlights together. If there isn't one, perhaps you have a video of a vacation you took or another memorable occasion. If not, look through your wedding album or pictures that you have taken throughout your years together.
5. Get Crafty
If you should be feeling a little artsy, go decorate some pottery for every single other (most towns have a DIY pottery studio or two). Or make something together, just like a photo album or scrapbook of the previous year's events.
