Time flies if you are having a good time and when you're with usually the one you love. While the years go by, perhaps your anniversaries begin to sneak on you, with you and your loved one seemingly always finding yourself venturing out to dinner again. Or probably the big day comes and goes, and that you do not do anything more because you're on a small budget and can't consider something to do that is celebratory, memorable, and won't cost a fortune. (Sure, a visit to the wine country sounds perfect; but can it be worth refinancing your home and mortgage to finance this?)
Well, luckily, you can be both romantic and financially smart. Here are 5 inexpensive and exciting new ways to celebrate your anniversary.
1. Just Be Together
Take your day removed from work, turn fully off the cellular phone, stop checking your email, and just spend some quality time together and save money. Keep it simple and remove yourselves from your busy everyday lives. Celebrate your life together because that is what your anniversary is all about.
2. Match Your Gift with Your Anniversary Year
If this really is your fifth anniversary, give five roses. If this is your 10th anniversary, provide a 10-minute massage. Be thoughtful and fun. Make a game out of it, and see who can show up with the most creative number-themed gift.
3. Give Thoughtful Gifts
For each anniversary year, there are traditional gifts that you could give. Like, the gift for the very first year is traditionally paper. Consider giving your better half stationery you have customized, a guide, a love letter, or other things connected with paper. It doesn't have to be expensive, just thoughtful. There's also a modern anniversary gift for each year. Like, for the fourth anniversary, the present day gift is appliances, which is actually a lot cheaper than a pricey bit of technology. 4. Watch Your Wedding Video
I don't think I've ever watched my wedding video. Honestly, I'm not sure where it is. But what's the purpose of having a video made if you should be not going to watch it? Your anniversary is a good opportunity to remember that special day, so pull out that wedding DVD and watch highlights together. If there isn't one, perhaps you've a movie of a holiday you took or another memorable occasion. If not, look during your wedding album or pictures that you have taken throughout your years together.
5. Get Crafty
If you're feeling a little artsy, go decorate some pottery for every single other (most towns have a DIY pottery studio or two). Or make something together, just like a photo album or scrapbook of the previous year's events.
